I bought this bike new at the end of 2010 to complement my racing bike and to replace a conventional hybrid that I found too cumbersome to be of much use apart from on cycle tracks and riding to the pub. By contrast to most hybrids the Tricross Comp has a great frame, road spec 105 gearing, and can take front and rear panniers and mudguards for touring / commuting. It can also be fitted with tyres from 25mm to 32mm enabling road use and off road / cycle cross. Mine took me to the top of Ventoux in 2011 with no issues.
Unfortunately 2010 was the last year that the Tricross Comp was produced to this high spec with a lightweight frame, carbon forks and carbon rear stays. 2011 and subsequent year models have been progressively down spec'd to the point where they are now very poor value. If you find a good 2010 or 2009 Comp (Ultegra rear mech), or even the lower spec Sport version, buy it!
