This was my first big cycling event, having only recently taken up cycling as a hobby/sport. The organisation of this event was superb from lead-up to post-event, typified by obliging telephone assistance, friendly "on day" staff and a user-friendly website. The entry requirements were very reasonable including an entry fee of $70 plus the encouragement to raise a minimum of $200 in sponsorship for the Multiple Sclerosis charity. The online donation process was easy for people to use and allowed friends and family to contribute to my fundraising efforts from anywhere in the world. The course was fantastic! It started in metropolitan Brisbane and wound its way through to the beautiful coastal areas of Moreton Bay before returning through bushland and acreage, back to the starting point at Musgrave Park near the beautiful Southbank precinct of Brisbane. The on-road provision of snacks, fruit and energy drinks were regular and plentiful, and the same can be said for riders at the end of the ride. All in all it was a fantastic experience and one which I thoroughly recommend. There were in excess of 5000 riders in the 2014 ride and we raised over $1.5 million for MS! A very worthwhile way to spend my Sunday and worth the 800 km round journey from Bundaberg to participate.
